“Kak, kamu udah makan belom?” An anwer popped into my ear as soon as pick up the ringing phone. My Granny on the call. “Kesini dong kan kangen sama kamu, Cu.. udah makan belom? Sini ada sayur asem nih... Kapan mau maen kesini? Besok ya.. besok dateng kesini”
I keep wondering how can a granma, around 65 years old and she still can be that energic. Doing the house work alone, going shopping whenever and wherever she wants. Buying unpredictable important things such as flashlight, new taste noodle from korea, buttons and many thing you wouldnt ever thinking about. Taking care of her 2 babies grandchild. And as far as i make this note, she dont have any problem with health. My presumption is because she’s happy. Yes, as simple as that.
Because a popped phone call the other day, I spent this perfect Saturday in her hot-non air conditioned house. I used to live there as well. But since i moved to the other house and i’m going to college, I got more rarely to stop by there.
In fact, it is easy to make her happy. All i need to do is just got there, smiled and said ‘lapeeer nih’. And she would offer every single food she have (And trust me, it is a lot!). She offered me fruits she bought in the market just this morning. Candy, cake, or chocolate she bought in carrefour ( I know she bought these for my little cousins, but she offered me anyway.
Today, as i showed up in her door. She offered me to fried some fresh lele fish! Without another ask, she gave my baby cousin who she was taking care and she started busy in her kitchen. After couples of minutes played with my wonderful 2 cousins, Allario and Patrick. She called me out and voila! I dont have more thing to say : I had a wonderful lunch.
She served fresh lele fried with sambal goreng, she cooked sayur asem with tons of eggplants. She cut some pinneaple and papaya for the dessert. And es belewah with granadine syrups for the best closing lunch ceremony. I think, life is wonderful.
Well, she had moon cake (it is mid autumn festive!) and she knows exactly i LOVE moon cake. But i was too full to eat up some cake. I played with my cousin, the other was sleeping. And after that i fell asleep next to him.
I woke up and ate some moon cake. She wrapped some pieces to bring home. And than i went home.
Simple. Nothing. But wonderful. And she just looked cant happier than that. Surrounding by her grandchilren. My brother came from futsal lesson and got lunch too, my cousin Patrick woke up and played with his dot. My other cousin, Allario watched tv and she just sit there, enjoyed her happiness and great remaining life.
If someone asked me, what would i like to be when i got older... My answer would be simple and clear. I just want to be like her, perfectly enjoying remaining life. Nothing more to say, what life is all about anyway, Other that being old and than die... ? The point is when we could looking back and had nothing to regard. And this second, all you have to do is enjoy. Just like my happy Grandma. :)
